Between Empty
Narrative Game | Cross-media Worldcraft
This is a fantasy world of mirror beings, a journey of the subversion of self and external perception.
For mirror beings, existence is reflection. They perceive the world—and their own existence—through mirrored images. External objects are reflected upon their bodies, with contours and colors granting them sensations and emotions, leaving imprints upon them. Without external reflections, they fall into existential anxiety, their consciousness blurring into nothingness. Thus, they dwell in a domain of light, tirelessly unearthing vibrant stones to build their homes, enriching the hues reflected upon them, and affirming their existence.
Currently, we're developing the game—a first-person, surreal puzzle narrative built in Unreal Engine. We also plan to expand the experience into live motion-capture interactive performances and VR, where performer and players embody a mirror being through immersive interaction, offering a unique perspective. Ultimately, I’m crafting a multi-platform experience that weaves a cohesive narrative and world, breaking down the boundaries between different media.
